Ejector Pins

DIN ISO 6751 AH DLC-Coating WCC

Ejector Pin with the cylinder head and AH DLC-coating WCC.

Ejector pins, and other components, coated with DLC and WCC DLC and WCC: These are non-crystalline (amorphous) hydrocarbon layers which are produced in a PACVD (Plasma Activated Chemical Vapour Deposition) process and which contain 50% to 70% carbon alignment, similar to that of diamonds. Both layer types consist of graphite based anti-friction layers, not conventional hard material coatings.

This means that in comparison with a purely hard material coating they display approximately 50% better flexibility.

Fields of application: DLC and WCC coatings are advantageous in dry running processes or processes with minimal lubrication e.g. for ejectors, transforming tools, sliding bearings, shaft sleeves, guides, bucket tappets and in dry machining of aluminium.

Compared to a WCC coating the extreme surface hardness and better friction coefficient of a DLC coating is advantageous. A DLC coating is more wear and corrosion resistant. However, the higher degree of hardness also has a disadvantage: A DLC coating can be less easily machined, e.g. in milling operations.
